Three Centuries of Dance and Virtuosity: From Baroque to Groove!
This program is an electrifying journey through the ages, where the cello reveals itself as intimate, virtuosic, passionate, bold, and intoxicating.
With Bach, we step into the refined world of Baroque dance: imagine a ball at Versailles, bathed in golden light and shimmering mirrors. Sarabandes, minuets, and gigues unfold with timeless elegance, making the cello the supreme master of movement.
Then comes Cassadó, who blows tradition wide open with his Suite for solo cello. The streets of Spain come alive before our eyes: dances whirl and sway, at times romantic and languorous, at times fiery and impetuous. Between fire, passion, and sensuality, the Iberian spirit ignites the bow.
Finally, the journey ends on today's vibrant pulse with Bollon's Popsuite. Urban beats, irresistible groove, jazz, pop, reggae, and even hard rock: the cello shatters conventions and shakes the ground with jubilant energy.
This program can be enriched by an innovative choreographic dimension, with the participation of one or more dancers, for an experience where music and movement fuse in a whirlwind of styles.
A punchy, dynamic concert, accessible to all, proving that in the hands of an artist, the cello, from Bach to the present day, remains the instrument of ultimate freedom!
"Estelle Revaz is a sincere and profound musician, endowed with great musical curiosity." Gautier Capuçon
Curious: Always in search of original programs, she is as interested in the great works of the repertoire as in new creations, as shown by her regular collaborations with contemporary composers.
Insightful: Her discography, acclaimed by the international press, bears witness to her thoughtful approach. Each program is the result of deep reflection, juxtaposing tradition and modernity (Bach & Friends), highlighting the music of her homeland, Switzerland (Cantique, Journey to Geneva), or weaving connections between composers (Fugato, Inspiration populaire).
Vibrant: Charismatic and engaging, she captivates audiences and international media alike, as demonstrated by her appearances on Radio France, Deutschlandfunk, WDR3, SWR, as well as on Swiss Radio Television, RTBF, and TV5 Monde.
Passionate: She performs regularly across Europe, Asia, and South America, and is invited to prestigious festivals such as the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, the Verbier Festival, Septembre Musical, the Festival International de Colmar, and the Festival Pablo Casals. Her chamber music partners include Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, Shani Diluka, François-Frédéric Guy, Hannes Minnaar, Cédric Pescia, Andrey Baranov, Alexandra Conunova, Lena Neudauer, Diemut Poppen, Pierre Génisson, Ralph Manno, and the Quatuor Sine Nomine.
Authentic: As reflected in her autobiographical book La Saltimbanque (Slatkine Editions), where she offers a sensitive portrayal of both the glitter of the stage and the darker backstage realities of the world she has inhabited since childhood.
Committed: During the pandemic, she worked tirelessly to demonstrate the essential role of culture and to voice the concerns of cultural professionals to policymakers. Her fight continues today in a more formal capacity as a member of the National Council (Swiss Parliament).
After her early years in Switzerland, she studied in France at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (with Xavier Gagnepain and Jérôme Pernoo), and in Germany at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (with Maria Kliegel).
